Before your adventure begins, you’ll spend a few hours on the plane, so make sure to plan an extra day for your journey to Namibia.

👉 If you booked your flights through Namibia Nomads, you’ll depart the evening before your road trip at 21:25 and land in Windhoek the next day at 13:20, just in time for the official start of your trip.

👉 If you’re arranging your own flights, you’re free to choose your arrival time. Arriving later simply means you’ll have less time to explore Windhoek or relax before the journey kicks off, but it won’t affect the rest of your road trip.

From the airplane window, you can already admire the impressive desert landscape that stretches over more than 800,000 km².

After landing, you'll need to go through visa control and then pick up your luggage. We also recommend buying a local SIM card directly at the airport. Then, you'll head to your first accommodation: the Tenbergen Pension in Windhoek.

👉 If you booked your flight through Namibia Nomads, the shuttle to the hotel is included. Our driver and ranger will be waiting for you in the airport entrance hall.

👉 If you booked your flights yourself, you can take a taxi to the hotel. The ride costs around €15 to €20 and can be arranged on-site.

In the afternoon, you'll have free time to rest or freshen up before heading out to explore Windhoek. Visit the iconic Christuskirche, stroll through the National Botanical Garden, or soak in the lively atmosphere of the city at one of its cozy cafes and restaurants.

At the end of the day, you'll also receive your roadbook along with a brief briefing from one of our rangers. This usually takes place between 5 PM and 6:30 PM, depending on everyone's arrival time. The ranger will coordinate this with you via the WhatsApp group.

🛏️ The first night will be spent in Windhoek at the Tenbergen Pension. Check-in is available from 2 PM.

After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel and taken to the car rental agency. There, you'll receive a complete briefing about the vehicle, the equipment, and the traffic rules in Namibia.

Next, you'll head out to do some shopping before leaving the city for your first stay in the Waterberg region.

Upon arrival, you can enjoy a lovely hike in nature or simply relax by the pool. It’s the perfect time to recharge your batteries before the adventure-filled days ahead. At the reception, you can also book a game drive for the following morning. It’s a unique opportunity to spot buffalo, as the Waterberg plateau is one of the few places in Namibia where you can encounter them.

You wake up after your first night!

Today, you’re heading north through varied landscapes and charming little towns.

Your route will take you through the towns of Otjiwarongo, Otavi and Tsumeb, each offering lovely stops for lunch. Don’t miss the hidden gems along the way, like the mysterious Otjikoto Lake, a true oasis in the heart of the savanna.

Your day will end at Sachsenheim, at the gates of the famous Etosha National Park. This prime base camp, with its inviting pool and restaurant, will allow you to recharge while being perfectly situated to start your safari at the crack of dawn the next day.

It will only take you a half-hour drive to reach the entrance of the Etosha National Park, which opens its gates at sunrise. It's the perfect time to start your day of exploration!

You’ll spend the day exploring the park in your own vehicle, discovering its fascinating wildlife and flora. As you drive through the reserve, you might spot zebras, giraffes, and elephants, along with many species of birds and other wildlife roaming freely in their natural habitat. Make a stop at the waterholes, as that's where you'll have the best chance of seeing animals up close.

Tonight, you'll stay in a campsite located in the heart of the park, equipped with a swimming pool and a restaurant. Thanks to its prime location, you can extend the experience by watching the animals until nightfall from a lit waterhole, an unforgettable experience to wrap up this day full of discoveries.

This morning, you have two options to start your day. You can choose to explore Etosha National Park on your own, just like the day before, or opt for a sunrise jeep safari. This is a unique opportunity to possibly spot new animal species.

In the afternoon, you'll leave the park and head towards the Ozongaka region. The landscape changes along the way, revealing impressive mountain formations.

Your accommodation for tonight is located at the top of a mountain. You'll be able to enjoy a breathtaking sunset, offering a beautiful display of colors across the surrounding mountains. Whether you choose the authentic vibe of camping or the extra comfort of the lodge, both guarantee you an unforgettable setting.

The domain comes with its own pool and restaurant. For dinner, you have a choice: either buy a barbecue basket and grill beneath the starry sky, or sit back and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner in the restaurant or outdoors under the stars.

On day 6, you wake up in the peaceful region of Ozongaka. Enjoy a morning dip in the pool and take in the stunning mountain views before hitting the road for the next leg of your adventure.

After a 40-minute drive, you'll pass by Vingerklip, an impressive 35-meter-high sandstone rock formation shaped like a finger. You can also take a short detour to visit the petrified forest, where fossilized trunks dating back millions of years tell the story of the region's unique geological past.

Finally, you head towards one of our favorite campsites, located at the foot of the spectacular Spitzkoppe rock formation. You're free to choose your own spot, making this campsite unique. Wild camping is allowed, offering an exceptional opportunity to spend the night under a breathtaking starry sky, surrounded by nature.

On day 7, you will discover Spitzkoppe, nicknamed the "Matterhorn of Namibia". This impressive rock formation, nearly 700 million years old, is one of the most remarkable places on your journey.

From the campsite, several options are available for exploring the surroundings. Choose one of the many hikes, learn more about the ancient rock paintings of the Sun People or check out the iconic rock “The Arch”.

After that, you’ll continue your journey towards Walvis Bay. On the way, you can take a small detour to the Moon Landscape, a surreal landscape that feels like another world.

If you prefer to head straight to the coast, you can continue to Swakopmund, a lively town with its restaurants, souvenir shops and museums.

For this morning of the 8th day, three unique experiences are available to you:

1. Kayaking Among the Seals
An ideal option for those who love gentle thrills and nature. Accompanied by a guide, you'll drive along the coast to the starting point. There, you’ll board your kayak, surrounded by a playful colony of seals that sometimes come within a few meters of you.

2. 4x4 Expedition to Sandwich Harbour
For those in search of adventure, a 4x4 journey with an experienced guide will lead you across the spectacular dunes of Sandwich Harbour, where the golden desert meets the ocean. Get ready for breathtaking views and adrenaline rushes as the vehicle races down the steep sandy slopes.

3. Relaxing Morning
If you prefer a more peaceful moment, enjoy a leisurely stroll at your own pace in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund. Wander along the promenade, savor a coffee in a cozy spot or watch the elegant flamingos in the lagoon.

Around noon, you'll head towards Sesriem, where you'll spend the rest of the day and evening.

If you thought you had seen all the wonders of Namibia, think again. Today, a new unforgettable experience awaits you.

By staying in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, you have the advantage of entering this magical space an hour earlier than other visitors. This gives you a unique opportunity to climb the dunes in peace and enjoy a magical sunrise, where the first rays of the sun color the landscape with warm hues.

You then continue with the discovery of the fascinating Deadvlei, a white clay pan dotted with petrified trees that have withstood the extreme climate for centuries. From this unique spot, you have breathtaking views of the surrounding dunes, including Big Daddy and Big Mamma. The vast stretches of sand and the surreal atmosphere of this place make this morning a true highlight of your trip.

For those who still have energy after all that walking and climbing, a hike in the Sesriem Canyon is possible, an impressive canyon shaped by centuries of water erosion.

In the afternoon, you head towards Solitaire. In addition to the café famous for its pie, you will discover a collection of abandoned cars and spare parts, giving the village a nostalgic and unique atmosphere.

Finally, you'll spend the night at a charming campsite with a pool, the perfect place to relax after an active day.

After one last night under your rooftop tent or in a lodge, and a delicious cup of coffee, it’s time to trek the final kilometers of your adventure.

You can choose to head straight to Windhoek or spend a bit more time in Solitaire where options like hiking, mountain biking outing, or a visit to the cheetah sanctuary. These activities are not part of our program, but we’ll be happy to provide you with all the necessary information. You can let us know your choice a day in advance so our contact can assist you.

Then, you'll hit the road towards Windhoek via the spectacular Spreetshoogte Pass, which offers breathtaking views of the Namibian landscape. The journey takes about three hours.

Upon arrival, you'll need to return the rental car by 4 PM. One of our drivers will then take you to the hotel, where you can relax by the pool and enjoy one last evening with your travel buddies or other Nomads.

If you booked your flights on your own, you can take a taxi at a time that suits you.

After your road trip, there will be one last step: the return flight home. So, plan for an additional travel day to get back home.

👉 If you book your flights through Namibia Nomads, you will depart from Windhoek at 2:30 PM and arrive the next morning at 6:30 AM in Brussels.
For example: if you book a road trip from March 24 to April 3, you will fly on April 3 at 2:30 PM from Windhoek and arrive home on April 4 at 6:30 AM.
